I am a Clinical Psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and emerging adults. I take a thoughtful, individualized approach to understanding what lies beneath a young person’s difficulties, while creating a space where they feel understood, respected, and able to engage. I work with young people and their families to develop a clear understanding of their needs and find meaningful, practical ways forward.
Clinical Practice and Approach
I support young people with trauma and grief, anxiety, OCD, mood difficulties, including depression, challenges with anger and emotional regulation, and behavioural difficulties. I also work with young people with neurodevelopmental needs, with a particular interest in ADHD, as well as addictive behaviours, including substance use and problematic digital use.
Psychological assessment is an important area of my practice. I approach assessment as an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of a young person’s strengths and challenges. A thoughtful assessment can provide clarity around longstanding difficulties, help young people and families make sense of their experiences, and provide direction for supports and next steps that build on their strengths.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and attachment-based approaches. I tailor therapy to the person in front of me, drawing on different approaches according to their needs, goals, and circumstances.
I also work closely with parents through coaching and consultation, helping them better understand their child’s needs and develop supportive strategies that strengthen communication and the parent-child relationship. I offer Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) as part of this work. Where helpful, I work with schools and other professionals involved in a young person’s care to translate psychological understanding into practical supports across settings.
I believe meaningful psychological care starts with developing a clear and nuanced understanding of what a young person is experiencing. I aim to help young people and families identify what can be changed, develop effective ways of coping with what cannot, and build practical ways to navigate difficult situations, relationships, and barriers to wellbeing.
Education and Experience
I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at York University, where I received extensive clinical and research training with children, adolescents, and emerging adults. I continued this training through my clinical practicum and residency at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. I also trained and worked at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. Most recently, I led child and adolescent services at Sage, a private, specialist multidisciplinary mental health clinic in Dubai, where I worked with young people and families from diverse international backgrounds. In this leadership role, I helped develop and expand clinical services, supervised clinicians, and strengthened multidisciplinary care.
Beyond clinical work, I’m passionate about clinical supervision, service development, and sharing psychological knowledge through talks, workshops, and international conference presentations. I value opportunities to contribute to the broader community and support thoughtful, collaborative care for young people and their families.
