As a PhD-level practitioner, I apply advanced clinical training and evidence-based therapy approaches to helping adults across Nova Scotia address trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, and panic. I also treat clients with attention and concentration problems due to ADHD or other causes.
I have a particular interest in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related difficulties. I have completed a trauma-focused Cognitive Processing Therapy Mastery Course from the Professional Education Systems Institute (PESI). For other difficulties I provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), skills training based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
My previous doctoral training in music informed my clinical psychology PhD research on music listening and mood regulation. I have taught, lectured, and published in the disciplines of both psychology and music.
In my practice I emphasize warmth, compassion, and acceptance. I have treated clients from many backgrounds at Dalhousie University’s Centre for Psychological Health and the Operational Trauma and Stress Support Centre at Canadian Forces Base Halifax.
In therapy, we will work together to identify your goals and develop a treatment plan using strategies with scientific track records of safety and effectiveness.
